Our History

Pacific Palms SLSC was founded in 1986 at Elizabeth Beach, then part of the Booti Booti State Recreation Area. This area is now Booti Booti National Park, which makes us one of only a few surf clubs in NSW inside a national park.

In the early days, equipment was stored at members’ homes and the toilet block at Elizabeth Beach, and the club operated with only a handful of active members.

During the 1988-89 season, with financial help from local property owners and government grants, the first stage of the clubhouse was finally finished — stage two was completed in 1996.

A bar, lift and extensions to the female amenities were completed in 2009, with disabled amenities, training room, gym and extensions to the male amenities and kitchen added in 2011.

In 2023, the Club completed major renovations with an upgrade to the north facing deck and improvements to the exterior and interior appearance of the clubhouse.

About Lizzy

Elizabeth Beach, fondly known as 'Lizzy' to the locals, boasts clear unpolluted water, a soft sandy beach and panoramic, unspoiled views. Parking is available at various points for easy access.

The 600m long beach faces north-east and is well-protected from east and south-east swell by Charlotte Head. Prominent hills border each end and a natural low foredune backs most of the beach. The Pacific Palms SLSC is located behind the centre of the beach.

Mission, Vision & Values

Our mission: is to save lives, contribute to the development of our members and make our community a better place to live and visit.

Our vision: is not to have any preventable deaths in our local waters and to be a trusted leader in our community

Our values include:

  • Inclusion – everyone is welcome, valued and treated with respect. We support one another.
  • Professionalism – we maintain high standards in relation to the services we deliver and the way we manage our business. We are open and transparent.
  • Community – we exist for our community, engage with our community and make decisions with our community in mind.
  •  Fun – volunteering for us is not a chore.

Child Safety & Member Protection

Child Safety

Children and young people are a critical part of our organisation. They participate in nippers, are patrolling members and visit our beaches. Information on child safety, including SLSA’s policies and procedures and our Club’s policies and procedures is available through the SLS Members Portal and on the Club website address tbc

All members are encouraged to think about what they can do to ensure the safety of children and young people, both in the Club and in the broader community. Child protection is everyone’s business.

Any questions or concerns about child safety can be directed to a member of the Board of Directors or to our Member Protection Information Officer or Child Safety Officer.

Member Protection

The Club is committed to the health, safety and wellbeing of all members and providing a safe, inclusive and fun environment.

Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) has policies and procedures relating to Member Protection (including the Code of Conduct), Complaints Resolution, and Inclusion and Diversity. These are available through the SLS Members Portal and on the club website.

Any member with a question or concern regarding member protection or the health, safety or wellbeing of themselves or another member is encouraged to reach out to our Member Protection Information Officer (memberprotection@pacificpalmsslsc.org.au or on 0409 540 757), or another trusted Club member.
